Saddlery is one of the oldest crafts in the long history shared by the horse and its riders. Then as now, most of the 200 individual steps required for the manufacture of a SOMMER saddle are completed by hand, and with considerable skill and creativity. To give you a better idea of what our traditional craft is all about, we would like to give you a brief look behind the scenes at the kind of work we do on a day-to-day basis in our workshop.
Production and technology
Only those who understand the needs and expectations of the riding community today will be able to meet the changing requirements with new developments tomorrow. Whether we are looking at a La Vita saddle tree, the A.P.S. System, shagreen or seat heating for saddles – as the industry’s pacemaker, SOMMER is constantly coming up with unexpected innovations and trends. However, before we can turn a new idea into reality, we invest a lot of time in full-scale research and technical planning. Only when the concept of an idea has finally matured and only when we have successfully completed a comprehensive series of tests do we include it in our product portfolio. Because you receive from SOMMER only the very best – the perfect product for rider and horse.
Certified quality
There is a hard and fast rule in our company: no SOMMER saddle is allowed to leave our premises before it has been subjected to a series of stringent quality control procedures and has been awarded a certificate of approval. Only in this way can we be sure that you receive the quality of saddle that sets a SOMMER saddle apart from others. The quality control procedures include six key inspection criteria – and only a product that fulfils all the criteria will be certified by us and released for shipment worldwide.

Warranty certificate
Before it is allowed to leave our premises, each saddle is subjected to a series of stringent quality control procedures designed to guarantee the high quality of our workmanship. This enables us to provide you with a certificate granting you a long-term warranty on our saddles with a range of comprehensive services.
